Upcoming New Volunteer Training-Our next session will be held October 4, 18, and 25th 7:00-9:30 pm.
CAFLC participates in the AmazonSmile program. Retailer Amazon will donate .5% of sales to us if you designate us as a beneficiary on your purchases. There is no cost to you, and if you’re an existing Amazon customer, you can use your account as always. For more info about how the program works and to designate us as your charity of choice, go to www.smile.amazon.com. Thank you for your consideration.
Would your church or organization like to host a baby bottle campaign or baby shower for us? Both projects are easy to facilitate and you would be helping us continue our community outreach and promote awareness of your group as well. Loose change collected in baby bottles and shower items collected for our layettes help us support a new mother who has nothing for her baby. If you’d like to help us make a mom smile, call our center at 243-6544.
ATTENTION BUSINESSES, ORGANIZATIONS & CHURCHES! Would you be willing to partner with us & Community Aid by having a clothing donation bin on your property? Community Aid has offered to give us a portion of the proceeds generated from clothing donations received at these bins. This would require NO MAINTENANCE on your part! Community Aid would regularly service the bins. If you are interested, please contact Jackie at 243-6544.
Thank You For Your Continued Support!

Gifts of Money and Items:
In 2013, our volunteers served nearly 1,400 clients and gave out 55 layettes. All that was accomplished during the 20 hours a week we are open, so my hat goes off to the volunteers who man our shifts nearly every day. While demand for our services is high and will remain so indefinitely, our volunteer numbers have significantly decreased for a number of reasons — health or personal changes or a move out of the area (we do have a number of Army War College-affiliated volunteers). A few long-time staffers simply decided it was time to retire. While change is bound to happen and it’s the one constant we can rely upon, it still has a significant impact on our center because we are 99% volunteer-run.
This means we need you now more than ever — not only your monetary support but your donation of time and energy. Our greatest need is for volunteer counselors to assist clients with everyday basic needs. We are all busy, but your service at our center could make the difference between a woman deciding to keep her baby or aborting him or her, between a family with young children sleeping in a warm shelter or on the street for the night, between a family getting a nutritious meal or skipping one or several, between a child spending his day in clean diapers and adequate clothing or running around in a dirty diaper and soiled or torn clothes. These scenarios are not exaggerations. At the same time, we experience lots of joy and see plenty of babies here. Occasionally, a client will stop in to thank us or will drop off a donation of clothes or equipment so we can help the next person. What does it take to be a volunteer? Not much materially but so much personally. We’re looking for people who are good listeners, have a compassionate heart and have a willingness to serve 2-3 times a month. Training is provided free of charge.
If you can’t volunteer, would you, your church or your organization be willing to host a baby shower for us? Many of the items we give to families are donated to us by local churches or groups. We are so appreciative of these events because it helps us assist more families than we might not have been able to help otherwise. If you are willing to host a shower, call us for a

We are in need of sponsors to help us with our annual Celebrate Life Banquet, our major fundraiser. There are a variety of sponsorship levels available. Sponsors will be acknowledged in the event program, receive a table(s) to invite their friends to the banquet, an opportunity to attend the meet and greet with our speaker and be acknowledged in our winter newsletter.
We also invite you to consider hosting a baby shower. Many of the supplies we provide to our clients, such as our newborn layettes, come from donations given by churches, businesses and organizations. Your involvement helps us give assistance to more families than we would have been able to give using our own resources.
While giving of your time and money is so very appreciated, we are especially grateful for any spiritual support you can provide. We are challenged daily by many situations that arise at our center, so we need your prayers to continue being beacons of light for so many caught in darkness.
